When I Cross The Line

When I cross the line
I'll be in your arms
Just like I was
When we were young.

But I guess it's all over
You're not coming back again
And all that'll happen
Is I'll get drunk again.

When I cross the line
I'll hold you again
And we'll try to forget
All those things we said.

But, I guess that
I'm just fooling myself
And all that'll happen
Is I'll take another bottle
Off of the shelf.

But, you won't even notice
You've seen it all before
Oh, you won't even notice
I've let you down
So many times before.

When I cross the line
I'll be in your arms
Just like I was
When we were young.

Oh, when I cross the line
I'll stop fooling myself
And all that'll happen
Is I'll take
Another bottle
Off of the shelf.

Before I Leave You

I think I'll have another drink before I leave you
Though it's time for me to walk right out of that door
We had so many good times together
But I've realised they're not coming back anymore.

And all the things I meant to tell you
So many things I meant to say
Oh, I guess it's better if I leave now
Oh, we're better off going our own way,
Oh, we're better off going our own way.

And all the things I meant to tell you
And all the things I never tried
I guess they're blown away forever
But that doesn't mean I never tried, oh no,
That doesn't mean I never tried,
That doesn't mean I never tried.

(Girl With The) Wooden Leg

Well, what's the use
Of a girl with a wooden leg?
And who needs a darling
Who always keeps her head?

A stone cross on the hillside
To mark the place
Where I first kissed you
One dreamy day.

And all the bells are ringing
Across the town
As you tear up your silver
And take off your gown.

And I'm no use
When I'm buried alive
I'd rather stretch my boots
Than walk 10,000 miles.

Well, what's the use
Of a girl with a wooden leg?
And who needs a darling
Who'll always keeps her head?

I'd rather drive a nail
Deep into your heart
Than have to live my life
In the back of a cart.

Oh, I kissed your neck
A thousand times
Yea, I kissed you darling
And that's the story of my life.

Well who needs a darling
Who'll never lose her head?
And what's the use?
What's the use?

How Many Lies

I've heard so many lies about you,
I don't want to believe they're true.
Oh, I've heard so many lies,
But I'm still in love with you.

Oh, how many lies
Must I listen to,
How many lies
Before I start hating you?

Oh, I've heard so many stories
And I try not to believe a word.
Oh, so many stories
And everyone hurts.

Oh, how many times
Must I listen to
How many lies
Before I start hating you?

And how many tears
Will have to be cried?
Oh, how many tears
Before they give up their lies?

Cupful Of Change

Oh, I'll be waiting at the station
To see if you'll be on that train
It's been twelve months since you left
I never thought you'd be back again.

Oh, I can still see you
The light shining in your hair
And the first kiss of winter
Is always better when you're near.

There's nothing much left
That we had then
But a cupful of change
To remind me of when.

Oh, I can still see you
The wind blowing through your hair
And the first touch of summer
Is always better when you're near.

Oh, I can still see you
And I'm dreaming of the day
When you come back forever
Oh, when you come back to stay.

Kiss At Dawn

All those postcards on the floor
A bottle of wine and a kiss at dawn
To keep the wolves away
I'm crying day after day.

I know I've been here before
I know I've been held up before
Oh, and I can't even see
Why you believe in me.

And you're at the ballet now
With your sister and another clown
And I miss you every day
Even though it doesn't always seem that way.

And I know I've been here before
I know I've been held up before
Oh, and I can't even see
Why you believe in me.

Please help me now.
Please help me now.

All those postcards on the floor
A broken heart and a kiss at dawn
And I watch you as you fall away
And I'm still crying day after day
And I watch you as you float away
And I'm still crying day after day.

When She Smiles

When she smiles,
When she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles at me.

Oh, when she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles at me.

I know she's not the best,
But I don't need the rest,
I just want her to smile at me.

I kissed her in the rain
And things weren't quite the same,
I just want her to smile at me.

Oh, when she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles at me.

Oh, when she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles,
Oh, when she smiles at me.

And I look in her eyes,
Some kind of disguise,
Oh, when she smiles at me.

Death Is Hanging Over Me

Death is hanging over me
Though this room is seldom cold
Rosewood candles light the way
Along this tarnished road.

Death is hanging over me
In it's empty covered shroud
Death is hanging over me
And it could never seem too loud.

It's waiting in my arms
Like a perfect glimpse of white
A thousand islands twist and fall
In the morning light.

Death is hanging over me
It merely twists and falls
Death is hanging over me
But I can't hear it at all.

My death waits there.

Cavaliers

Cavaliers look out of windows
As the guards go riding by
Holding their hands over their eyes
So they can't see the sky.

As poets sell their diaries
And beg for the chance to speak
They'd give up all their innocence
For just one hour of sleep.

And in the hall of mirrors
A juggler reads the news
And he throws his words into the air
As he runs off with my shoes.

And he's looking for something
That he thinks he'll never find
There's nothing left for him to do
But to cry away his time.

So he runs back to the courtroom
Where the lawyers wash their hands
And he knows that they're not guilty
But no-one seems to understand.

And as look-outs pace down corridors
And mercenaries burn the fields
The courtiers stand round laughing
Pretending it just isn't real.

And they're looking for something
That they're sure that they'll never find
And there's nothing left for them
But to cry away their time.

And the serjeant he just stands there
With his feet on the garden wall
As the city fathers light candles
And wait for the sky to fall.

And in the empty courtroom
The dancers change their clothes
And they watch the castles fall down
As they send each other notes.

And they know there's nothing left
And there's nothing for them to do
So they order up their carriages
And search for something new.

And as the river breaks it's banks
And washes them all away
I look into the mirror
And I try to remember my name.

'Cause I'm looking for something
That I'm sure I'll never find
There's nothing left for me to do
But to cry away my time.

Oh, I'm looking for something
That I know I'll never find
And there's nothing left for me
But to cry away my time.
